Author, Flynn & Miranda: Your Right to Remain Silent
This week, Ira spoke with Joe Wallenstein, author of Flynn & Miranda: Your Right to Remain Silent. In this admissible episode of Ira’s Everything Bagel, Wallenstein talks about his new novel, which is based on the facts of the Miranda decision; why he decided to make it a historical novel; why attorney John Flynn was able to take the case all the way up to the Supreme Court; the price he had to pay for his victory; the pervasive awareness in today’s society that police must read you your rights; and the surprising number of convictions upheld one the police read suspects their rights.
Wallenstein has a track record in storytelling, having produced two highly-successful TV series, “Knots Landing” and “7th Heaven.” He has also written two books about film production and safety in professional filming: Practical Filmmaking: A Handbook few the Real World and Nothing Dies for Film, and currently serves as Director of Physical Production in the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California.
