This week, Ira spoke with Charles Pignone, president of Frank Sinatra Enterprises and Sinatra archivist. In this Ol’ Blue Eyes episode of Ira’s Everything Bagel, Charlie talks about Frank Sinatra’s enduring appeal; his commitment to quality; the most surprising thing Charlie found out about the chairman of the board; the decision to release a newly mixed and remastered version from the original Reprise session tapes of Watertown (with two of the songs featured during the conversation); how Sinatra’s music is streamed in the 21st century; and how Charlie became an early member of the Sinatra organization.
Charles Pignone is a producer and writer. He is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Sinatra Treasures and also The Copa and The Sinatra Family Photo Album. He has produced numerous albums including Sinatra: Nothing But The Best and Ultimate Sinatra. He also co-produced the 2011 television special “Sinatra Sings,’ the 2015 HBO documentary 'Sinatra: All Or Nothing At All’ and CBS’s ‘Sinatra 100’ tribute special. His latest book Sinatra 100 is published by Thames & Hudson. He has been associated with the Sinatra family for then 40 years and is the president of Frank Sinatra Enterprises.
