AND A LITTLE YIDDISH MUSIC!

Zeke Levine, translator from Yiddish of a book-length collection of stories by the radical Yiddish humorist Sam Liptzin, is my guest this week. (https://iraseverythingbagel.com/noshing-with-zeke-levine-june-9-2022/). In addition to Sam Liptzin’s books and articles, he also wrote lyrics. Here is a recording of Lechayim, with lyrics by Sam Liptzin and music by Joseph Schrogin. The vocalist is Bernice Ashton.

Bagel Bytes

“The hole in the middle of your bagel is no mistake. In fact, this bread was baked with a hole so vendors could slide them on to dowel rods, making it easy to transport them to wherever they would be selling their bagel that day.” – romper.com
