Owner, Pink’s Hot Dogs, Los Angeles
This week, Ira spoke with Richard Pink (who, along with his wife and sister, owns Pink’s Hot Dogs in Los Angeles). In this frank episode of Ira’s Everything Bagel, Richard talks about the beginnings of an iconic hot dog stand, founded by Paul and Betty Pink; his decision to take over the business with his wife, Gloria and sister, Beverly, expanding the menu and creating a synergy with celebrities and special events; one of the most exciting moments in Pink’s history; the celebrity who set the record for most hot dogs consumed at one time; the historic and cultural connection of Pink’s Hot Dogs to Los Angeles; how the business has expanded both nationally and globally; and how the family keeps the food a consistent quality and, most importantly, retains a family-run atmosphere.
A Hollywood landmark since 1939, Pink’s, has been featured in movies, TV shows, the food channel, the travel channel and travel books. Pink’s now has 15 locations including Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Ohio, Connecticut, New York, Miami, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Los Angeles County Fairs, Hawaii and the Philippines.
